Do It Yourself Ceiling Fix to Repair Large Ceiling Holes

What do you do when there is a hole in your ceiling needing to be fixed? Not just any ceiling fix either. No, I’m talking about fixing a large hole in the ceiling. A verrrry large hole. See, my husband fell through the ceiling and we now have a large ceiling hole above our living room/den and we have to patch the hole. Yes really.

My husband fell through the ceiling while working in the attic recently, because air-conditioning men we hired to replace one of our air-conditioning units left loose air ducts, so my husband was in the attic trying to tighten them when he slipped and fell through the ceiling.

Thankfully he wasn’t seriously hurt, no cracked or broken bones to speak of, but he did get some pretty nasty scratches and bruises. Oh, the curse words were flying everywhere for sure, but at least he was ok.

Have you ever searched online for reviews and ratings about a certain kind of beer you haven’t tasted or tried yet?

Health Benefits of Coffee and Tea – Give up Coffee? Why?

Health Benefits of CoffeeDid you know there are health benefits of drinking coffee and tea? I drink coffee and tea nearly every day, amongst other things of course, but I’ve noticed there is a lot of discussion going on about coffee addiction and people feeling like they need to give up coffee altogether. Don’t drink coffee? Why?

Why should I give up coffee and tea just because there is caffeine in tea and coffee? I don’t believe I drink too much caffeine type drinks at all, and I don’t experience any of the caffeine withdrawal symptoms or side effects others have been talking about, so what is the problem with coffee?

Almost every morning, the first thing I do is start up the ol coffee maker and enjoy a nice hot cup of coffee or two, and it doesn’t matter one bit if the weather is hot or cold outside. I like hot coffee in the summer months just as much as I like my coffee in the cold winter months, and every cup of coffee I drink tastes good to the very last drop. I don’t need coffee – I want coffee because it tastes good to me.

Gooseberry Patch Christmas Books, Cookbooks, Calendar, Gifts and Recipes

Gooseberry Patch ChristmasChristmas will be here before you know it, and if you like Gooseberry Patch Christmas cookbooks loaded with great country recipes as much as I do, you will love the new Gooseberry Patch cookbook. As a mother and grandma, cooking is not just a necessity but is also one of many fun activities or hobbies to be enjoyed. When I discovered the Gooseberry Patch company a few years ago, I was immediately hooked on the delicious recipes found in all the cookbooks I could find to buy.

Needless to say, I’ve been starting my own collection of Gooseberry Patch cookbooks that I will have a great time experimenting with when the kids and grandkids come over. Since I’m an avid reader of books of all kinds, especially cookbooks with great recipes and stories, I was thrilled to receive my very first cookbook by Gooseberry Patch.

I have so many recipe cards filling recipe boxes in what I jokingly refer to as “Grandma’s Kitchen”, I really need to take the time to use the organizer I bought from Gooseberry Patch, and then choose a couple of my best recipes to send to Gooseberry Patch for possible inclusion in their next cookbook.

2010 Gooseberry Patch Calendar by Gooseberry Patch

Gooseberry Patch 2010 CalendarThe Gooseberry Patch calendar is on the top of my list of favorite things from the Gooseberry Patch company, and now the 12-month 2010 wall calendar and appointment scheduling calendar are available. This year’s calendar is filled with tried and true (and delicious!) recipes, with unique recipe ideas surrounded by unforgettable watercolors throughout the calendar, with plenty of room to jot down special occasions and dates to remember.

Since I couldn’t decide between the 12-month Gooseberry Patch wall calendar and the appointment calendar, I ultimately decided to buy both calendars since I always carry a planner or appointment scheduler in my purse. Since Christmas is coming and a few people I know love to cook and have started a collection of cookbooks, I’ll be buying a few cookbooks from Gooseberry Patch as gifts for them as well.

Have you heard about the Gooseberry Patch company yet? Gooseberry Patch is a thriving mail-order company based in Delaware, Ohio. Neighbors Vickie Hutchins and Jo Ann Martin founded Gooseberry Patch in 1984 over the backyard fence even though neither had any business experience; Martin was a first-grade teacher and Hutchins was a flight attendant & legal secretary. Let that be a lesson to you: always follow your dreams, and don’t let anyone tell you your dreams aren’t worth chasing.

Real Live Christmas Trees VS Environmentally Friendly Eco Christmas Trees

Real Live Christmas TreesThe real live Christmas trees vs. environmentally, eco-friendly artificial Christmas trees debate rages on. Is it better to buy a real live Christmas tree, with the fresh clean smell of pine, or should you buy a fake artificial Christmas tree? If you celebrate Christmas, you would likely agree that it’s just not Christmas without a tree, decorated with beautiful Christmas ornaments and decorations for all to enjoy. Which is more eco-friendly, the real Christmas tree or the artificial (fake) Christmas tree, and does it really matter?

I don’t know why the cost of live Christmas trees has gone up so much in recent years, but there was a time when buying a Christmas tree from a “choose and cut” tree farm was the cheap way to buy a Christmas tree. From what I’ve heard, tree farms are feeling pressured to raise the cost of their trees because of how expensive it is to run the tree farm all year long, plus the rising cost of gasoline to transport the trees from location to another.

Real Live Christmas Trees

Until a few years ago, we would buy a live tree from a local Christmas tree “farm” so to speak that took up shop on the corner lot near a busy intersection. The trees were always in great condition and came in all sizes and shapes, and we typically ended up buying a live tree for Christmas that would almost touch our high cathedral ceilings.

Pole Dancing Doll? No Pole Dancer Doll Says Parents

Pole Dancing Doll

Good Lord, what is the world coming to? The Poll Dancing Doll must be someone’s idea of a joke, but presenting a pole dancer doll as a “cool gadget” is simply disgusting!

Maybe this pole dancing doll is where Miley Cyrus got the stupid idea from when she recently did her own pole dancing bit that had parents upset.

Seriously, a Poll Dancing Doll? For who? Kids? I think not!

The Pole Dancing Doll is described this way: “It rotates. It has blinking lights, a disco ball, and a pole. And it’s probably one of the wrongest toys you can give to any girl.”

Grandma Purse Book – My Granny’s Purse Book for Grandchildren

My Granny's Purse BookThe Grandma Purse Book is a children’s book but it is also a purse! Some people are so ingenious and crafty, and this Grandma is definitely getting My Granny’s Purse Book for when the grandkids come over. What fun!

My Granny’s Purse is a purse/book for children authored by Paul Hanson, who has also created My Mommy’s Tote and My Grandpa’s Briefcase for children. The Grandma Purse Book is a cardboard pocketbook stored in a clear plastic box, and it opens up to reveal a collection of fun items such as a mirror and comb, a wrench and a heart-shaped box of chocolates. Some objects are removable, like the cardboard keys and sunglasses, but it’s a shame that you can’t really see out of the glasses.

Synopsis: Open Granny’s purse (yes, she said it’s OK) and enter a treasure chest of mementos and magic. A unique, fourteen-page die-cut storybook crammed with interactive features and surprises for ages 3 and up, it contains a whole life waiting to be discovered.
